The District 11 met the Leader of the Parti Québécois in the Electrolux file

District 11 met the Parti Québécois to make advanced the Électrolux file. Were present at this meeting David Chartrand President Directing Business Representative, Pauline Marois Leader of the Parti Québécois , Nicolas Marceau (MNA of Rousseau), Marjolain Dufour (MNA of Rene-Lévesque) and  members of Local Lodge 1148 working at Électrolux.

The meeting related to the following points:

Report of were we are at and what we need of them

Pressures to obtain letter of the Co on sale of the building and equipment

Sums of money which was recovered by Investissement Quebec (we want that money to be used for the employees)

Problems of the area (no possibility of development) because of zoning

The IAMAW organizes is annual blood drive

Fonds de solidarité FTQ posts net earnings of $19 million

Montréal, January 4, 2012 – The Fonds de solidarité FTQ posted net earnings of $19 million for the six month period ended November 30, 2011. This translates into a positive 0.2% return, pushing up the share price to $25.98, a $0.06 increase from May 31, 2011.

The return for the 12-month period (December 1, 2010 to November 30, 2011) is 3.8%.

“Considering the risks threatening the Québec economy, we are satisfied with our performance in this first half of the fiscal year. The six-month return of 0.2% and 12-month return of 3.8% is largely due to the efforts and efficiency of the Fonds’ management team. We achieved this positive return while investing some $546 million to develop the economy and to create, maintain and protect jobs,” said Michel Arsenault, Chairman of the Fonds de solidarité FTQ Board and President of the FTQ.

“There are a number of reasons why we managed to hold our own despite the market volatility and economic uncertainty. First is a good integrated asset management policy. Our mission-related portfolio, which invests in Québec SMEs, also did well despite the turbulence. And our other investments on the financial markets are designed to complement our private equity strategy, resulting in better risk management. Although we recorded a small profit, we must keep a close eye on the economic situation. Québec businesses are overall in good shape, with solid profits, little debt and good cash flow. But we can’t ignore the risks from abroad,” added Fonds CEO Yvon Bolduc

The members of Local Lodge 1758 accepted the offers of Héroux-Devtek

The members of Local Lodge 1758 ratified at 54% the offers of Héroux-Devtek.

It is a 3 year collective agreement with the winnings of::

                                           2nd year 3%
                                           3rd year 3%

We would to underline the good work of the negotiating committee in those discussions

The members of the Local Lodge 1660 working at Kéfor Structures accepted a renewal of a 5 years collective agreement

The members of Local Lodge 660 working at Kéfor Structures accepted in a strong majority the offers of the Employer.

It is about the renewal of a 5 years collective agreement  with an annual wages increase of 3%.

Improvements also in the premiums of team work and lead hands, increase of the amount for the refunding of safety shoes.

Although many of our members expected other improvement in other fields, they appreciated the other improvements concerning the articles of the collective agreement more precisely on the level of the articles which touch vacation of mourning when one of our member is hard hit by a family mourning and vacation for sickness payable if they are not used.

As a whole, the Business Representative Denis Longtin mentions¨with the innovations of this work contract and the result of the vote shows that the members appreciated the work made by their internal representative of the negotiating committee.¨

Renewal of the collective agreement for 4 years between the members
of Local Lodge 423 and Goodrich

Joined together in a general meeting, the members of Local Lodge 423 working at Goodrich, accepted at 79% the renewal of the collective agreement for the  next four years.

This negotiation was difficult. Several discussions took place with the top management of the company to come to this four years agreement, to save jobs in Montreal.

The winnings are: 22 jobs saved
                           $2000 premium for 9 people laid off
                           3 day pre-retirement course paid by the employer
                                                    Wages: 1st year status quo
                                                                 2nd year $2000
                                                                 3rd year 2%
                                                                 4th year 2%
