LOCAL LODGE 712

The Local Lodge 712 accept a three year contract with Bombardier

The members of the Local Lodge 712 IAMAW-QFL (unit of Bombardier Aerospace) ratified in a special meeting a new three year contract Saturday May 13.






 

Voting 82.9% in favor of a deal reached last week, after more than five months of hard work by the negotiation committee to have a collective agreement for the union workers of Bombardier Aerospace.

The gains won by the negotiating committee:

Only one form 10.8.2  (accrued power for Health and Safety Committee to stop dangerous work )


Modification of coverage for future retirees


3 year contract : 

     1st year :     $ 1,500

     2nd year :     3%   September 1st, 2006

         3rd year : 3,25% December 1st 2007


Introduction of Time Banking


Bridge raised to 22$ back time to December first, 2005, raised to $23 December 1st 2006, raised to $24 December 1st 2007

LOCAL LODGE 869

Rolls-Royce deposits a final offer to the Local Lodge 869 Negotiating Committee

The members of Local Lodge 869
accept Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce negotiating committee deposited to  Local Lodge 869 negotiating committee an offer that the company qualifies of final.

The union negotiating committee will meet the members on October 31 to present and vote on this offer.

Due to many calls from members,  the negotiating committee, always listening members, decided to have the meeting the next day November 1st.

November 17

Members of Local lodge 869 met in a extraordinary meeting and accepted the agreement between the union negotiating committee and the employer by a majority of 74.1%.

The members concluded that the four year agreement was acceptable. This agreement will terminate on April 2010

Thanks to this agreement, the members will be call upon to work on a new engine the V-2500 that will replace the engine RB211 that will not overhauled any more at the Lachine plant.

This new engine will insure jobs and might create new jobs.

LOCAL LODGE 1148

Local Lodge 1148 give themselves
a new collective agreement

February 20  2007

The members of Local lodge 1148 (office) accepted the offer of the employer (Electrolux) by a margin of 70%.  The participation of the membership was at 75%

The accepted proposition extend to a duration of three (3) years.
The point that aroused the deception was the lump sum of
(600$) the first year of the collective agreement.

 

The Gains:

  • Increase in the order of 2.3% per year 

  • A forecast of compensated time was added (maximum of three (3) days  banking)

  •  The employer's contribution was increased by 1$ per week starting October 1 2006,  to the employer-Union retirement plan of the IAM-Québec

  • The age of pre-retirement went down to 61 year of age without penalty

  • The age to participate to a retirement course went down to 59 year of age

  • Was integrated in the collective agreement a permanent shut down premium

We have to underline the excellent work of the negotiating committee made up of the shop president Lucie Paquin, and of Yvan Payette and Pierre David Rivest. 

 

 The committee preserved the benefits of the collective agreement even if the employer demands asked for major concessions as:
 

  • An increase in the order of 200% (10% to 20%) of the contribution to the collective-insurance

  • Cancellation of the pre-retirement

  • Decrease of the employer's contribution to the retirement plan

The members of Local Lodge 1148 examined the offers the employer  Electrolux. 





 After more then 20 meetings and 2 days of conciliation, their was presentation, discussion and vote on the report of the conciliation. It's by a margin of 64 % that the report was accepted.


 
Many changes where brought at the collective agreement:

  • More members with seniority will have the possibly to stay on day shift.

  • The members will be able to convert their over time hours in days off. A maximum of 24 hours renewable  at a time applies

  • Improvement  in the choice and role of the Lead hands

  • Clause concerning  vacations

  • Grievance procedures

  • Sub-contracting

  • Health & safety issues were also brought

  • The age permitting to attend a 3 day retirement course was reduced at 59 year old

  • The members desiring to take an anticipating retirement will be able to do so starting at 61 year old without actuarial reduction and collective insurance up to 65 year old

  • A departure premium of 600$ per year of services will be paid when a member takes an anticipation retirement at 61 year old having 15 year

  • A complete closing premium was added. An amount of400$ per year service if the shop would close.

  • The wages for 3 years,
    A one time amount of $600 for the firs year, The one time amount as always been on the it was a worldwide corporate decision for the whole of the employees of Electrolux.
    2%  for the second year
    2.2 % for the third year 

Money aspect, the employer was in demand to increase the members participation for the retiring and collective insurance by 50%. This demand finally was wavered. The weekly contribution to the retiring regime by the employer  was increased at $25.75.

 

The recourse of increasing part time employees and the one time amount paid were the principal litigation, were the principal critical points at the meeting.

Now that the collective agreement as been renewal for 3 years, the employer will have to grapple with other in satisfaction points  «the respect of is workers

The negotiating committee of Local lodge 1148
meet the representative of Electrolux to communicate the dissatisfaction of the members facing the last offers of the company.

 

Both parties agreed to meet May 19 to start an intensive second round of negotiation to find an agreement that would satisfy both parties.

 

SATURDAY MAY 13 2006

 

Saturday May 13 2006 the members of Local Lodge 1148 (Shop) as rejected by a vote of a big majority of 97% the offers of Electrolux company..

 

After the vote of rejection of the offers, the members gave a 96% strike mandate to there negotiating committee.

 

The principal points in litigation are:

Respect
Salaries
Vacations
Team rotation
Long term insurance
Part time workers

Stopping of overtime as been selected as a pressure tactics by the members.

This measure applies starting Sunday May 14 2006.

 

Considering the result, the parties will meet Tuesday May 16 2006 to explore  the possibilities to re-launch the negotiations.

LOCAL LODGE 1660

A new collective agreement for the members of Local Lodge 1660 working at Weigh-Tronix (shop)

A new contrat for members of Local Lodge 1660 working at Alstom Power in Gatineau

The members accepted, by a  vote of (75%), the employers proposition for the renewal of the collective agreement 

 

The new collective agreement provides:

  • Wage increase of 2.5% for each of the two year agreement. 

  • The amount of purchasing safety shoes and safety glasses were increases.

  •  An important provision was negotiated  concerning payment  to the  long term collective insurance  or members lay  off for a duration of 24 months. The employer will pay is part as long as the members maintain theirs.

  • Increase Lead hand premium also  added premium for supervisor of welding and automatic machine operators'.

  • Last improvement, the employer will purchase winter coats for members working on lifts and working in the yard. 

 

Congratulation  to the committee!

On June 27th, workers of Alstom Power had rejected a first offer, the employer was demanding important concessions on group insurance and overtime, members were dead set against these demands, in no way were they ready to let go acquired benefits !

 

The negotiation committe returned to the table with a clear mandate supported by a strong strike vote.

 

This second round of negotiations yielded expected results : the employer withdrew his demands pertaining to the group insurance premium and overtime rates.

 

The 36 members accepted a new 5 year contract containing raises of 2.75% - 2.75% - 3% - 3% and 3% plus raised benefits on pension and added vacations.

The members of Local Lodge 1660 accept a three year contract agreement with GE (shop) in Lachine

The members of Local Lodge1660 of General Electrique (shop) in Lachine have accepted at 91.5% in an extraordinary meeting the  offers of the company.

 

 



These offers include:

  • an agreement of three (3) years
     
  • Wage raises of 3% 1st year - 2.38% 2nd year and 2.40% for the last year.
     
  • Adjustment of cost of living 2nd et 3rd year
  • Working clothes supplied the employer
     
  • Bonuses for programmation
     
  • Increase of team premium
     
  • Employment protection in technological changes

LOCAL LODGE 1758

The members of Local Lodge 1758 reject  Heroux- Laval offer

 

New collective agreement for members of Local Lodge 1758 working at Héroux Devtek Laval

Last February 16th the members of Local Lodge 1758) met at the Best western in Laval to pronounce themselves on the employers contract offer.

 

The bargaining committee accompanied by Business Representative Pierre Brisebois presented and explained the employers contract offer to the members.

After a question period, the members went to vote.

51.1% of the members rejected the offer; with this result the members voted a second time to give the bargaining committee a 70% strike mandate.

The members accepted, by a majority vote of
(77 %), the employers offers for a renewal of the collective agreement.


The new collective agreement of a duration of (4) years changes are:

q       A wage increase of 11.8 % for the duration of the collective agreement

q       For the collective RRSP, the companies contribution will increase from 3% to 3.50% during the collective agreement..

q       Working schedules 1 (evening shift) 2 (day shift), the lunch break will be paid.

q       Working schedule 4, a premium of 0.95¢ hourly will be paid for all hours worked overtime on top of the regular premium.

q       A new statuary holiday December 24

q      Improvement banking hours increase at 32 hours including the overtime

q   A paired premium of $1.25 hourly

q       A Bonus of $500 of loyalty at the end of the contract

The improvements on the non monetary clauses have been made at the level of:

q       Duration of the probation period, benefits clauses 18, 21 and 22 starting the second month

q       Posting (anticipated application )

q       Layoff : delays improved, voluntary departure with right to recall for a maximum of 1 year.

q       Working hours - 4 new schedules

1.       Limitation of 20% for shift 4

2.       Breaks and working hours determine at precise hours

3.       Pay back of $1100 gross qui that could be transferred directly in a RRSP

4.       The company must, before creating or modify working schedules', must have a written agreement between parties

q       Vacations:

Shut down : advise working force before April 1

Fractionation passes a maximum of 2 weeks

Worker absent for cause of illness or accident during the year of reference, will receive 2, 3, 4 or 5 times the wage average of the salary for vacations

q       Holidays :

National holiday (June 24) even if absent before or after

At 25e anniversary of service, the worker will be allowed re a maximum of 3 paid floating days during the holiday period

q       Lead hand (new text)

q       Progressive transition towards retirement

q       Summer jobs, the company will give preferential treatment to hire employees family.

q       NDT inspector

Premium of .25¢ hourly by certification FPI, NDI, Nital Etch et Eddy Current

LOCAL LODGE 2235

The members of Local Lodge 2235 (Security Agents and Firefighters) ratify agreement with Bombardier

The members of Local Lodge 2235 accept
a 5 year collective agreement with L3-Com

Members of Local 2235, who provide securitry and fire fighting services for Bombardier have ratified a new collective agreement by 85 percent margin.

"The membership stood behind their bargaining committe." said District 11 Business Representative Claude Boisvert. "The company wanted the right to replace bargaining unit members who retired or were dismissed, with sub-contracted workers. With the support of the membership behind them, the bargaining committee rejested this demand and the company was forced to drop the idea."

The new four year and four month deal provides wage increases of three percent in each year of the agreement in addition to improved vacation allowances, bereavement leave and shift premiums.

July 4 2006

The security officers and firemen (11) of Local Lodge 2235 from L3-Com, Mirabel have voted by a margin 80% in favor on the employer offers, agreement that took place between the employer and the negotiating committee on June 26 2006.

The proposition forsees :

  • Supernumerary employees, over time after 48 hours
  • Work schedules 3-2-2-3 permanent for the sergeants

Harmonized night premium, rotation premium, $0.75 at the ratification and $0.80 starting the third year

Wages increase for regular ermployees:

  • 1st year 2.50%
  • 2nd year 2.75%
  • 3rd year 3%
  • 4th year 3%
  • 5th year 3.25%

Supermemerary wages:

  • 1st year $14.25
  • 2nd year $14.55
  • 3rd year $14.85
  • 4th year $15.15
  • 5th year $15.45


Firemen:

Pager premium of $1.00 hourly, outside normal working hours

LOCAL LODGE 2468

The members of Local Lodge 2468 reject Rolls-Royce offer

February 25  2007

The  members of Local lodge 2468 ( office employees ) have met  February 25 in an extraordinary meeting to vote Rolls-Royce Canada offer that was presented to the union negotiating committee.

After reading the employer offer, the negotiating committee  recommended the reject of this offer.

The members supported this recommendation of their committee by rejecting  99% the offer and giving a strike mandate 95 %.

The points in dispute:

  • Wages

  • Group insurance

  • Increase of working hours per week

  • Paiement of overtime

The parties agreed to return at the negotiation table Thursday and Friday March 1 and 2 to try and come to an agreement..

LOCAL LODGE 2727

The members of Local Lodge 2727 accept a 4 year collective agreement with Kraft

Sunday June 11 2006,

The members of Local Lodge 2727 (Kraft) voted on the employer offers. The members supported the recommendation of acceptance of the offers by the negotiating committee by a margin of 84%.

The parties met 17 times before coming to an agreement ratified by a big majority of the members.

The proposition forsees :

  • A 4 year collective agreement

  • An increase in wages of 0.75¢/hourly for each year collective agreement retroactively to March 31 2006.

  • Shift premiums, Lead hand and electrician A-4 were all increased.

  • Allocation for tooling will be increased of the amount of $10.00 for each year.

  • The collective RRSP past from 1.90$ hourly in 2005 to 2.10$ hourly in 2009.

  • The progression will be done every year of the collective agreement

  •  A statuary holiday will be added making 13 statuary holidays per year

  • It will also be permitted to 5 members having 60 of age and 20 years service to have a premium of 15,000$ if they retire during the life of the collective agreement starting January 1 2007

  •  The monetary amelioration represents a total raise of approximately 14 % for the 4 years of the collective agreement

Non monetary amelioration clauses as been made
 to the level of:

  • Vacations choice and number of members able to take their vacations at the same time

  • A complaint step was added at the grievance procedure 

  • Temporary assignment will now be able to be done on day shift if possible following the recommendation of the members doctor

  • Lay off procedure as been clarified also the prevision of sub-contracting

  • A minimale rest periode of 8 hours per 24 hours will  now be compulsory
